That's because Emerson Joseph, Charlotte's newest grooming lounge, is devoted to men only, with a decidedly masculine atmosphere that's as much social club as day spa. It boasts the kind of indulgences that any man will appreciate: pool table, flat-screen TVs, and a relaxed atmosphere to linger in before or after a haircut, shave, massage, manicure or pedicure.

Why men only? Because men deserve an environment that caters exclusively to their style and grooming needs. Ask a man where to get the best service for his car or the best deal on a plasma TV, and he'll know in an instant. But a first-rate haircut or massage…that's another story. There's just no other place in Charlotte that can claim to meet the grooming needs of style-conscious, discerning men.

Founders Shelly and Stacy Takats were inspired to create the men-only salon by their style-conscious grandfathers Lewis "Emerson" Smith and Gabor "Joseph" Takats.

Grandpa Lewie was a kind, generous, God-fearing man who served in the Navy during WWII, and could erect a house, re-build a car, lead an auction or carve a violin. He was a man's man. He had moxie. But he was also a fashionable guy, always wearing a fedora or cowboy hat. His attitude was enviable. If asked how he was doing, Lewis Smith only knew one response: "Wonderful!"

Grandpa Gabe was a hard-working businessman who religiously read the Indianapolis Star and Wall Street Journal. He served in the Army during WWII. He was an accomplished athlete, a leader in the community and a successful entrepreneur. He too valued style, so much so that he wore a suit, tie, and hat to work every day, even well into his eighties.

These two men exemplified masculinity, honor, and style. At Emerson Joseph, the men of Charlotte will find these same ideals—in both the first-class services and a setting that's designed specifically to make the grooming experience pleasant.
