Advice
Goo is Good
A bushy, fly-away-prone lid will not earn you any style points. Whether you gravitate toward the classic look of Pierce Brosnan, or rock your top like the strategically disheveled David Beckam, the right styling product is the only way to get there, and get there consistently.
Ultra-short
Use a silky gel. This will provide shine, but not matte your hair down.
Bed head
Use pomade for a high shine and maximum hold. Try a taffy-like concoction for a more pliable look and feel. Both products are great at adding dimension & texture.
Classic
Use a medium weight gel. This will provide a polished, natural appearance.
Long
Use a silky gel to keep hair moving, while avoiding static-induced fly-aways. Try a water-based pomade to add shine.
Application tips:
- Too much of a good thing, is still too much; if it looks like a football helmet, and feels like a football helmet, it better be a football helmet.
- Start with a dime-sized amount of any product and work up. (In a pinch, you can use body powder to negate the greasy affects of an over-zealous product application).
- Don't neglect the back of your head.
Emerson Joseph has a great selection of pomades, gels and styling waxes to goo your do.
